This little boys parents had him painted with his hand typically pressed to his forhead,(not shown) he was a smashing little chap full of fun, I couldn't have failed to paint a good portrait, every expression he had on his little face was full of happy mischief

This was a rush job with a vengeance, a few hours before Christmas their Father asked me to paint it for his wife for a gift. I was very tired after the seasonal rush of commissions but I hate to let anyone down, so here goes said I, and this was the result, if I were doing it again I wouldn't put them in black, too harsh for a little child, I just wish compressing the images for the web didn't spoil the soft skin texture But it wasn't the latest commission I have ever received, I once painted a little dog in pastel on Christmas morning, The client was thrilled to bits with it, - I just burned the potatoes

I painted this little girl twice, the first one was sweet,and was for her Mother, but Grandpa said she always looked at him with a pout, so he asked me to do it again for him, this was the result

The client left it to me to do a non-formal painting, so I didn't work on a rough watercolour surface, but on a highly polished surface which gave this unusual effect which is very translucent
